Cori E. Thomas
Founder & CEO
Cori has been in the insurance industry her entire life.
She has insured thousands of horses all over the world. From playday ponies to multi million dollar breeding horses. Her passion to protect people's legacies has led to a remarkable success in the equine industry.
Cori is known for her honesty, integrity, empathy, and her reliability.
Growing up in Ft. Worth, TX. Cori was an avid horse lover with parents who were not horse people. Her father was a conductor for Union Pacific Railroad and her mother was a 2nd generation Allstate Agency owner. As a freshman in college Cori began working as a loper in the cutting horse industry where her love for good cow horses matured.
Cori attended Abilene Christian University her freshman year of college on a cheerleading scholarship but quickly traded in her college cheerleading uniform for a Jeff Smith saddle and made her way to Clarendon College where she would compete on the Ranch Horse Team for 2 years. Cori was diagnosed with cancer in 2011. After her diagnosis and treatment, she chose not to return to school. Instead, she obtained her insurance license and went to work at her family's Allstate Agency in Saginaw, Texas.
After a few years Cori took over the family business and grew it exponentially. Winning numerous awards and was one of the youngest woman-owned Allstate Agency owners in the nation. She was responsible for protecting over 4500 households across Texas. Although Cori valued this time in her life, she quickly realized that corporate America was not fulfilling her passion for the Equine and Cattle industries' needs.

Cori sold the Allstate Agency in 2018 to chase her dream of insuring horses and cattle and started Covered By Cori LLC from scratch. To date, her agency now insures over 7000 horses across the United States and Canada.

Cori resides in Dalhart, Tx with her husband, Tyler Thomas and their two children, Taylen & Kanyon.

Kristen York
Licensed Agent
Born with the crazy horse girl gene, Kristen York has spent her life immersed in the horse industry. From earning her B.S. in Equine Science at Colorado State University to helping Silver Spur Ranches win the prestigious AQHA Zoetis Best of the Remuda Award, Kristen has worn many hats—breeder, owner, showman, and now agent.
She’s shown cutting and reined cow horses at the top level and would still rather be at a horse show than anywhere else—a mindset that’s served her well in both the arena and the business world. Her son, Kasen, lives in Wyoming where he trains horses and cowboys for Silver Spur Ranches. Kristen now calls Weatherford, Texas home and made sure there’s plenty of space for Kasen to bring the whole barn when he visits.
As an agent with Covered By Cori, Kristen has expanded her book of business while continuing to build her horse program. She owns My Pistols Hott, who stands at Valley Equine, adding another layer of hands-on experience she shares with her clients. Always eager to grow and learn, she has horses competing in most of the performance arenas—or anywhere there’s a cow involved.
With rope horses in training with Brett Stoops, cutters under Jaime Snider, and Kasen starting the young ones, chances are you've seen a horse that came through her program.
